The condominium in Via Saragozza, Bologna was subject to serious cracking phenomena in the driveway passage area leading to the inner courtyard; damages were caused by the excessive slenderness of the horizontal carriers. Since providing for the building seismic improvement was very expensive, it was decided to act locally, with a static intervention. So, a metal frame inside the driveway passage was positioned, which presently acts as a support for the horizontal structures, thus discharging very much the load-bearing walls, that had already shown evident signs of weakness. The building site, with a limited timing schedule as a further additional constraint, was managed in two months only, also developing new underground foundations at about 2 meters from groundfloor and also arranging sections of the sewage system interfering with the construction site itself.
